Luis G. Manzo, Ph.D.
Director
Luis is a licensed psychologist and completed his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University in Chicago. In addition, Luis received his master’s degree in Sport psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Prior to becoming the Director of the Counseling Center at Polytechnic Institute of NYU, Luis served as the Assistant Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Montclair State University as well as was on staff at the University of Notre Dame and Lafayette College.
Luis has focused his career on working with college students successful make the transition from high school to college and beyond. He specializes in providing performance enhancement services to students wishing to stretch their abilities and maximize their potential. In addition, Luis has an expertise in the assessment, treatment and prevention of addictive disorders.
Luis’ work with students is informed by the positive psychology movements and integrates elements or motivational interviewing and solution focused approaches with a existential and relational perspective.
Anju Bhargava, Ph.D.
Staff Psychologist and Coordinator of Clinical Training
Anju completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington.
Prior to becoming Staff Psychologist and Coordinator of Clinical Training at the Polytechnic Institute of NYU’s Counseling and Psychological Services, Anju worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Delaware. She also has over four years of experience working in university counseling centers at the University of Delaware and Washington State University.
Anju’s specialties include career development and multicultural counseling, specifically acculturation and ethnic identity development. Anju has proficiency in integrating the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory into her career development work. She has organized diversity events for university campuses raising multicultural awareness of faculty and students. In addition, she has traveled to18 countries and lived abroad in Austria while working in the Vienna public school system. Thus, Anju is familiar with cultural differences which exist throughout the world and is excited to put her diversity awareness into practice at the Polytechnic Institute of NYU!
Anju’s work with students is informed by the interpersonal process approach and incorporates elements of person- centered counseling.
