Workshops
A major component of the services offered by the Counseling Center is the provision of interactive workshops designed to help student maximize their academic and personal effectiveness. The Counseling Center offers variety of workshops on a range of topics including mental health, academic and peak performance.
Below is a listing of the workshops offered this semester.
Learn to Meditate Wednesdays
February 6th - Meditation 101- Learn the basic principles (concentration and mindfulness) and practice of sitting meditation.
February 13th - Meditation 102- This workshop provides further practice with sitting meditation, with the addition of mindfulness of sound and bodily sensations. We will also discuss ways to incorporate mindfulness into your daily life.
February 20th - Meditation 103- Learn the practice of loving-kindness meditation. You will also be introduced to walking meditation.

NYU-Poly Sangha
NYU-Poly Sangha is a group that meets weekly for a period of sitting meditation. It is appropriate for meditators at all levels of experience.

February 25th- Ins 7 Outs of Dating (1-2pm)
March 24th – Culture Clash- Finding out who YOU are sexually (12:30-2pm)
April 28th– Heartache, Heartbreak….and how to deal (1-2pm)

The Counseling Center has developed workshops on the following topic:

- Overcoming depression
- Peak performance
- Overcoming procrastination
- Visualization
- Speaking with confidence
- Getting what you want out of alcohol
- Confidence building
- Helping a friend in crisis
- Suicide prevention
- Managing anxiety
- Effective communication skills.
These and other workshop topics are available and can be tailored for the needs of the intended audience.
